December 2020 & January 2021 Libraries Access

As the semester draws to a close and the transition to the next begins, I write to share information about the ways the UVM Libraries are here to support you.

To comply with university-wide health directives, the Libraries will provide limited, in-person access to our facilities in December and January. As always, we encourage you to take advantage of our expanded remote services, our popular curbside program, and our willingness to mail physical materials to you, as needed.

Please note that access for students will be limited to students who have been sponsored by their Dean, or are in other approved categories. For details on student sponsorship, see the December 2020 and January 2021 Operations website for more details on student sponsorship.

Upcoming dates and services for the Dana Medical Library, Howe Library, and Silver Special Collections Library are as follows (please see library websites for details about hours and services):

 

 

Dana Medical Library (https://dana.uvm.edu/)

November 28 through December 18:

Dana Medical Library will be open to students with the required sponsorship in place as well as to all UVM faculty, staff, Larner College of Medicine students, and UVM Medical Center employees. Remote reference, interlibrary loan, and document delivery services will be available during this time.

December 19 through January 1:

All campus library buildings will be closed and remote services will be temporarily suspended.

January 2 through January 31: 

Dana Medical Library will be open to medical students, UVM faculty, staff, and UVM Medical Center employees. All other UVM students must have the required sponsorship in place. Remote reference, curbside, interlibrary loan, and document delivery services will be available during this time.

February 1:

The Dana Medical Library will re-open to all UVM patrons beginning February 1, 2021.


Howe Memorial Library (https://library.uvm.edu/)

Silver Special Collections Library (https://specialcollections.uvm.edu/)

November 30 through December 18:

Howe Library will be open to students with the required sponsorship in place and to all UVM faculty and staff. Silver Special Collections Library will continue to be open by appointment only. Remote reference, curbside, interlibrary loan, and document delivery services will be available during this time.

December 19 through January 3:

All campus library buildings will be closed and remote services will be temporarily suspended.

January 4 through January 31:

Howe Library will be open to to students with the required sponsorship in place and to all UVM faculty and staff. Silver Special Collections Library will continue to be open by appointment only. Remote reference, curbside, interlibrary loan, and document delivery services will be available during this time. Student visitors to both libraries must be sponsored by their Dean or in other approved categories.

February 1:

The Howe Library will re-open to all UVM patrons beginning February 1, 2021, which is the first day of classes of Spring Semester. Silver Special Collections Library will welcome visitors by appointment only.
