On March 4, Julian Barnett, artist-in-residence in UVM's Department of Theatre and Dance, will give a performance/lecture, "Personal Poetics, From Rupture to Transformation." The presentation will highlight his most recent professional work, shed light on multicultural processes and contexts, and examine the role vulnerability has played in his choreographic life.
Julian Barnett creates performances that examine the social-political possibilities for transformation and empathy, through the lenses of dance, philosophy, musicology, science and the supernatural. Barnett has performed throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, China, Japan and Europe. As an educator he has shared his practice at numerous colleges and universities.
The lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Special Collections at uvmsc.uvm.edu or 802-656-2138.
