The Jack and Shirley Silver Special Collections Library is now open in Billings at 48 University Place. The move from Bailey/Howe is mostly completed, boxes are mostly unpacked, and the shelves are full. We opened on August 20, and have been busy every day since, first with researchers and scholars and now with students and classes.
A week after moving in, we held our inaugural event in the Marsh Room. We hosted the first presentation in the 2018-2019 College of Arts and Sciences Medieval Studies Lecture Series. Sylvain Piron, from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris, delivered his presentation "Why Studying the Middle Ages Matters in the Age of Global Warming," to a great crowd.
